Privacy Policy
HummingBird is built to do one thing and touch as little of your
data as possible.
What we store
- OAuth bot token for your workspace, so the app can post
and delete GIFs on your behalf.
- Your settings: how many seconds a GIF stays before it
is deleted, and whether a vanished GIF leaves a small trace.
- Your workspace name and install date, so we know which
workspaces use HummingBird.
- Usage counts for your workspace: GIFs sent (this month,
which also applies the free tier, and lifetime), searches, sends that
failed, and presses of Next and Cancel, plus the times of the last send and
the last search. These are numbers only, counted per workspace, never per
person, and never include your search text or the GIFs themselves.
- Anonymous trends across all workspaces: popular search
terms (lowercased and trimmed) and the Giphy ids of sent GIFs, each with a
use count. They are not linked to any workspace or person, are deleted 30
days after their last use, and are only shown on our internal dashboard
once 3 or more workspaces have used them.
- Anonymous daily totals across all workspaces (for
example, how many GIFs were sent and how many installs happened that day),
with nothing that identifies a workspace or a person.
- Billing references if your workspace subscribes: the
Stripe customer and subscription ids, and the Slack user id of the person
who subscribed, so only they can open the billing page. Card details go
straight to Stripe; we never see or store them.
What we never touch
HummingBird does not read, log, or store the content of
your messages, channels, or files. The app only ever sees the slash command
text you type and the buttons you press in its own private picker. When you
send a GIF, its search text is held for about a minute in the scheduled
delete job, so the GIF can be swapped for its small trace line, and is then
discarded. Apart from the anonymous trends described above, search text is
never stored, and never alongside your workspace or your name.
Deleting your data
Uninstall HummingBird from your workspace and we automatically purge that
workspace's stored token, settings, name, install date, usage counts, and
billing references. We keep only this month's free-plan send count (a
number, nothing personal), so uninstalling can't reset the free tier, and
the anonymous daily totals and trends, which never identified your
workspace. If
your workspace subscribes, uninstalling also sets the subscription to end at
the close of the period already paid for. There is nothing you need to
email us to request.
Third parties
- GIPHY provides the GIF search. Your search terms are
forwarded to Giphy to return results. HummingBird is Powered by GIPHY.
- Google Cloud hosts the service and stores the data
described above.
- Stripe processes payments for paid workspaces.
